In exciting news for family historians with Irish ancestry, the National Library of Ireland has brought more than a century of parish records – spanning from the 1740s to the 1880s – online for the first time.

Available through a free website, these Catholic parish registers include 390,000 images, scanned from microfilm, of baptisms and marriages from around Ireland.

The registers have not been transcribed, but you can find individuals by searching manually through the relevant county and parish of your ancestors.
